I’ve invested in several exercise DVD’s over the years but once the workout got hard, I’d turn it off and eventually, I’d quit.

I got tired of my favorite size jeans sitting in the closet for the day I could finally fit in them.

I made a decision, I decided I was going to get healthy!

I tried one gym for 2 days, but it didn’t have enough variety for me. I get bored too easily. (I’m the one who likes to drive home a different way each time). ;)

I looked online and found another gym close by that has a different workout for each day. I got a free weeks pass and jumped in.

I came to the first class on Saturday for Ride where you ride a stationary bike. I lugged the bike into the room of about 35 people. It was early in the morning, so the lights were off. I got on and the instructor started us on our journey of an hour bike ride. After 15 min I was dying! I was ready to quit. How in the world was I going to do this for an hour? I looked around and realized that I’d have to get off my bike & drag it in front of 35 people to be able to leave the class. How embarrassing.

So, I decided to stay and keep riding. Wow did I ever sweat! My backside has never been so sore. I had to keep telling myself that I could do it, and I did it!! I rode a bike for an hour!!

I was hooked!

I decided to come back early on Monday morning for Centergy where I worked on my core with yoga & Pilates moves.

The next morning, Tuesday, I did Power where I lifted weights. Yes, I used the smallest ones possible. :) But next time I’m adding more!

On Wednesday, I did Zumba in a group class. WOW! I love Zumba! Especially the music! Now, to just get my body to move like that. ;) The instructor and fellow classmates encouraged me to keep coming and that I will eventually learn the moves.

This has been such a busy week! I'm getting healthy by working out at a gym. I am loving all the group classes! :) My muscles hurt where I didn’t even know I have muscles.

What will your life look like one year from now if you continue on the same path you are on right now?

When you look in the mirror, will you be happy with what you see?

Join me on this journey to get healthy!

I’m encouraging you to take the first step! It’s time to put on your workout shoes and get MOVING!!

I hope this has helped you!  Please leave a comment!

I love to workout and completely agree that, at times, the hardest part of the workout is simply beginning it!

  2. GMA K says:

Loved your story–the humor and the challenge.  Looking forward to joining you on your journey!  Love you!

  3. So glad to hear this, Scarlett. Permanent weight loss and fitness always begin with a decision to get healthy! Continue on your path, and continue to renew your mind with what the Word of God says about how we should treat our bodies. Way to go!

  4. Cheryl Cope says:

I love the way you jumped right in there and tried out several things at once. I like the fact that you are looking for things that you actually do like because as you pointed out, if you don't like it, you won't continue doing it.  You go girl!!

  5. Love this post and I love exercises, especially Zumba! :) Going to Zumba tonight! Scarlett, thanks for sharing this article with us.

  6. Awesome Scarlett….Congrats! You will love the results in 1 month, 90 days, 180 days, and 1 year, 2 years, 3 years…"JUST DONE IT." is your motto…Cheers To You, Hughie :)

Your website looks great Scarlett. Good for you that you started your exercise. I am going to start T-Tapp after The New Year for the same reason as you. I am out of breath in no time. Keep going, looking forward to see the results!

  8. Thanks Scarlett for the encouragement, I need it. I seem to start then work out for a while then quit and it's always a challange to get started again. I do like it when I'm on the workout routine. Happy Holidays.

    • Hi Jennifer! So glad this encouraged you! It’s definitely a decision to start working out. Find what works best for you- DVD’s at home (T-Tapp, Turbofire), walking, martial arts, Zumba, a personal fitness coach… I needed the push from being in a live class. I think meeting a friend there would also help for accountability. I hope you join me on this journey to get healthy!! :)
